Lottery Functions
The lottery system has many advantages over the traditional first come/first served systems. Some of the advantages include:
- The golfer no longer has to stop everything at a pre-determined time and call the pro shop to make a tee time. The golfer simply makes a request at their convenience and the system will notify them of the assigned tee time.
- Groups are kept together during the placement process. Different golfers don't have to call and try to get back to back tee times
- The system fairly distributes tee times based on pre-program algorithms. The golf staff is no longer involved answering the telephone and is freed up to perform other task
- Enforces member and guest tee time rules based on course, day of the week, tee time and membership type.
The system supports 4 main placement algorithms and 32 minor algorithms. The 4 main algorithms are:
- Play History
The system sums the individual golfer's play history to arrive at the team's average play history. Then teams are ranked based on the team's average play history.
- Bonus Points
Similar in theory to "Play History" but the golfer receives credits against their play history for not receiving the requested tee time and/or course.
- Random
Each team is assigned a random number. Then teams are ranked from the lowest to highest random number.
- Missed Minutes
The system tracks the difference between the requested and the received time for past play. Teams are ranked from the teams with the highest to lowest missed minutes quotient. The golfers play history has no affect on the missed minutes ranking.
